Land Description

Waterfront Property For Sale ON Famous Michigan Cisco Chain OF Lakes. Lot 9 is a 25.9+/- Acre Wooded Parcel with 2,685+/- feet of frontage on the southern shore of Clearwater Lake, one the lakes toward the north end of the Cisco Chain of Lakes in Gogebic County of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. This 172-Acre lake is about 10-feet deep and is known for Walleyes, Northern Pike, Largemouth Bass, Crappies, Perch and Bluegills. You will be able to launch your larger fishing boat at the Michigan DNR launch site off Clearwater Lake Road at the north end of the lake. There is a concrete ramp, loading dock, vault toilet and ample parking there. With a little clearing you will be able to launch your kayak or canoe from your own front yard, and enjoy swimming from the sandy beach. This lake is surrounded by the Ottawa National Forest, with nearly one million acres of hardwood forests, crystal clear lakes, remote wilderness area, and a multitude of wildlife species. Wildlife is abundant, including white-tailed deer, black bear, bobcat, coyote, fox, porcupines, otter, smaller mammals, waterfowl, bald eagles and ospreys. Loons regularly nest in the more remote areas. The Cisco Chain of Lakes is made up of 14 (Locals say there are 15) interconnected lakes which straddle the border between Michigan and Wisconsin and have over 4,000 acres of water. Clearwater Lake doesn't have a navigable channel connecting it to nearby Little African Lake, but a small creek meanders the few hundred yards between the two lakes. Wintertime offers outstanding snowmobiling, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Sportspersons from Michigan and Wisconsin have cooperated to provide snowmobile trails that span the borderlands. Snowmobile Trail No. 13 is runs just west of Co Rd 531, just a couple miles away. Spring wildflowers provide a beautiful backdrop for woodland hikes. Summer recreation includes swimming, picnics, and backpacking. The Fall provides spectacular color displays in the forests. The Cisco Chain of Lakes area is a great place to live and a great place to visit in all seasons - If you are seeking the north woods wilderness atmosphere for your seasonal cabin or year round home, schedule your private tour today. The lakes of the Cisco Chain of Lakes that are entirely in Michigan are the Clearwater Lake (172 surface acres), Little African Lake (31 acres), Cisco Lake (567 acres), Thousand Island Lake (1,009 acres), Big African Lake (86 acres), Record Lake (68 acres), Lindsley Lake (156 acres), Fishhawk Lake (77 aces), Morley Lake (59 acres), Poor Lake (106 acres), Indian Lake (129 acres), East Bay Lake (277 acres). Big Lake(733 acres) and West Bay Lake (362 acres) are located in both states. Mamie Lake (337 acres) is entirely within Wisconsin. Originally not connected with navigable streams, 19th century loggers dammed the Cisco Lake outlet to the Cisco Branch of the Ontonagon River to facilitate floating logs out of the area.
