History

Addison Township, Michigan, was established around the mid-19th century becoming the northwesternmost township in Oakland County. Its early history involved logging, with significant stands of white pine and oak timber. The first settlement was Lakeville in 1830, founded by Sherman Hopkins and named for pioneer Addison Chamberlain, who became the township's namesake.
