Parker, Colorado, was founded in 1864 when Alfred Butters established a homestead near Pine Grove, later called Pine Grove or Parker. Named after James Sample Parker, who ran a post office and stage station in the 1870S, the area initially served as a stop along the Denver-to-Santa Fe stagecoach route. Early settlers engaged in farming, ranching, and timber harvesting, with the arrival of the Denver and New Orleans Railroad in 1882 spurring growth by connecting Parker to Denver. The town incorporated in 1981, evolving from a rural community into a suburban town within the Denver metro area. By the late 20th century, rapid population growth transformed Parker into a residential hub, with historic landmarks like the 1915 Parker Consolidated School now Parker Town Hall and the 1874 Twenty Mile House reflecting its pioneer roots.
