Stone Cabin Ranch
9870 Tollefson Trail : Fort Laramie, WY 82212
Goshen County, Wyoming
Land Description
The Stone Cabin Ranch sits just north of the small historic town of Fort Laramie, in Goshen County, where the Laramie and North Platte Rivers converge in Southeast Wyoming. The area is rich in history, with the Fort playing a key and vital role in the United States western expansion. Native Americans, trappers, traders, missionaries, emigrants, soldiers, miners and ranchers all left their mark on the famous history of the American West.
Land
The Ranch has good grass on gentle and rolling hills with tight fences and ample water from 3 wells and 2 stock tanks that make for big fat cows. Six individual lots make up the total of 253 acres that are divided into 3 lots in the North pasture and 3 lots in the South pasture. The lots could also be sold individually for investment return if desired. The Ranch also borders a 640-Acre State of Wyoming section and a 40-acre BLM piece, which provide additional opportunities for recreation.
Improvements
The main house is a well-kept newer 1232 sq ft modular home with 2Br, 2Ba, and a detached 2 car metal sided garage. For Ranch projects and equipment storage, there is a nice 36 50 insulated pole barn shop with two 12 overhead bay doors and a 10 36 storage loft. The Stone Cabin is a cozy 840 sq ft and has 1BR & 1BA with a wood pellet stove and eat in kitchen that provides for comfortable gatherings. The bunkhouse is great for kids or guests with 2 sleeping bunks and a warm propane gas stove. The detached Garage Ma Hall is a great place to hang out and tell stories. The garage is heated by another wood pellet stove and has convenient murphy style bunk beds.
Recreation
In addition to the recreational opportunities at the Ranch, it is also well located to the Laramie and North Platte Rivers and the reservoir at Guernsey State Park. Just a bit further down the road are the reservoirs at Glendo State Park and Grayrocks both offering excellent boating, fishing, hiking and biking as well as host of other outdoor adventures.
History
Fort Laramie was originally established as a fur trading post in 1834 and evolved into the largest and best-known military post on the Northern Plains. The Fort witnessed the entire saga of western expansion thru the homesteaders and their establishment and use of the Oregon, Mormon and California Trails and the Native American resistance to the encroachment into their territories.
Location
The Ranch is about an hour and a half to the Wyoming State Capitol in Cheyenne and about the same to the state's regional hub in Casper, and the University of Wyoming in Laramie. All cities offer convenient air travel and their own respective amenities. The hustle and bustle of the Colorado Front Range, and all it has to offer is just a couple of hours to the south. The Stone Cabin Ranch is an opportunity to have a piece of the vanishing last frontier in the Great State of Wyoming.
