Hardy is a city in Sharp County. the community was named for James Andrew Hardy, the railroad contractor. Hardy, which grew from a railroad construction camp in 1884, has retained its quaint turn-of appearance along Main Street. in fact, Hardy's central downtown area is on the National Register of Historic Places and hasn't changed much since Model-T days. New growth and attractions have been located at the edges of town, leaving a tiny mecca for craft and antique shopping in the heart of town. The little town boasts three museums, summer musical shows, bed and breakfast inns, and several festivals each year.

VAGABOND Lake is located in the Boston Mountains. Camping at Vagabond Lake is really fun, Hardy Camper Park is a magnificent local campground and an overnight stay at Kamp Kierl is a perfect place to camp, and after a long day, outdoors Days INN Hardy is a nice place to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful and peaceful. The scenery at Vagabond Lake DAM right next door to Vagabond Lake is beautiful. During the warm months highs here at Vagabond Lake reach the 90's. All through the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the '60s. If you enjoy fishing there are fish in the lake.

SPRING Lake is located in an area known for its beautiful natural scenery of sandstone bluffs, flowing streams and lakes, and pristine landscapes. This 82-acre lake is in the Magazine Ranger District in the Arkansas River Valley on the western edge of the Ozark National Forest. Spring Lake is a favorite area for water sports, swimming, and fishing. Facilities include 13 family campsite units, 19 family picnic units, central restrooms, drinking water, picnic shelters, a swimming beach, and a bathhouse with showers. Boating is allowed and Camping Trailers are allowed, but no special facilities are available.

SPRING River, which is fed by Mammoth Spring and is ideal for trout fishing and reliable year-round floating, is also nearby Vagabond Lake.

Sharp County, was formed in 1868 and named for Ephraim Sharp, a State Legislator from the area. It is an alcohol prohibition or dry county. The county seat is Ash Flat. Sharp County is located in the Northeastern part of Arkansas, bordering on Missouri, the county's elevation ranges from 561 feet in the Southern section to 1,000 feet on the Northwestern part…the Ozarks.

The Ozarks is a canvas of color in the Spring with the Dogwood and the Redbud Trees in full bloom. The light slants a little longer, casting a glow on the Ozarks in the Fall. Cooler days make comfortable excursions in and around the Oxford area. Absolutely gorgeous fall colors are displayed in any direction you choose to travel.
