Land Description
The Rock- Off Grid Home & 50 acres While driving up the two track trail to this fabulous homestead, the wonderful feeling of nostalgia will come over you as your eyes feast not he quaint setting unfolding before your very eyes. This wonderful 50 acre homestead is nestled near Wild horse gap and Bow mountain approximately 9 and a half miles back into some of the most beautiful wilderness timberland and mountains of Oklahoma. Driving to this magnificent homestead is definitely part of its charm. It feels like you are driving back in time. I can actually feel all of the stress and tension melt away as I venture further into this mystical wilderness world. As I approached the Rock Homestead, the free ranging chickens, the wonderfully productive garden, the scattered utility buildings that were all purpose built by the loving hands of the owners, all shout out that this is a very special sanctuary. The Rock Homestead is off grid meaning there are no city utilities here, no electric or water pipes for it. The first thing that belied the 150 year old nostalgic look and feel was the twelve solar panels that provide electricity for the homestead. The windmill, a wired generator spinning at the top of a high pole in the gentle breeze punctuated the fact that the owners knew what they were doing. Between the two solar panel arrays there is a total of 14,000 watts charging the 12 solar batteries while the sun shines and the 1600 watt wind charger charges the batteries all night with a tear 7 to 10 mph breeze. A very adequate system for this unique compound. The water well is on of the best wells in the area. It is 200 FT deep and is drilled directly into a subterranean lake or aquifer. The well driller report it at a minimum of 16 gal per minute of flow. That's plenty for 10 houses and gardens. The water tastes fantastic. You could bottle it and sell it. The main house is 1248 sf. The first half, the original home is finished with a kitchen, living area, full bath and 2 bedrooms. The new addition is ready for a new owner to finish it as they desire. My favorite spot is the 8 foot by 40 foot covered porch across the entire length of the front of the home. We sat for a spell, drank cold water from the awesome well and just enjoyed the serenity of this wonderful homestead. I never wanted to leave. The complimentary out buildings include a little 8x16 storage building for odds and ends. A shop/barn that is 25 ft wide by 15 ft deep that is tastefully built out of a carport. The shop/barn houses deep freezers and canned goods, tools, etc. The open ended 20x21 pole barn houses the tractor and equipment. The 6x8 Well house is very well insulated to protect the water system from freezing weather. The guest house is an 8x30 foot remodeled Fema trailer home that is quite comfortable. With a full bath, kitchen, dining, living area, bedroom and 2 built in bunk beds. It could sleep up to 8 people. This will make a great hunting lodge for your buddies or great mother-in-law suite. It has a fantastic 8x10 covered front porch adding to its charm and comfort. Both homes are on septic tank systems with lateral lines. The little 5x6 chicken coop & chicken yard is fenced from tree to tree and is roughly 30x50. This sets the over all feel of this wonderfully warm and inviting homestead. The 50 acres is mostly all wooded with trails throughout and a little seasonal creek providing water for the abundant wildlife. Hunting in the area is fantastic with every conceivable game that you can imagine. You'll see white tailed deer, black bear, turkey, squirrel, rabbit, etc. and there is an abundance of all. Come take a look at this enchanting place. You will definitely feel welcome. You must come see it to really appreciate what I am saying here. The Owners live here full time quite comfortably, but life has a way of changing things and they, with much regret must start a new chapter. They must pass their creation of love onto a lucky new owner.
