Region & ClimateThe Starkey community is an old logging townsite near the Umatilla National Forest. Camp Elkanah is only 2.5 miles from this unincorporated town. This long-running camp is a popular summer camp for youth and adult retreats.
Northwest of Starkey approximately 17 miles is the waterfront Indian Lake Campground. This campsite sits on an 80-acre lake and showcases views of the Blue Mountains. It accommodates both RV and tent camping and a popular fishing and boating destination.
La Grande is a mere 25 miles from the property, and it offers opportunities for shopping and entertainment. La Grande is known for its museums and history, particularly the Oregon Trail Interpretive Park and the Elgin Opera House.
