A Founding Father, he served as the first and sixth post-colonial Governor of Virginia, from 1776 to 1779 and from 1784 to 1786.

Keysville residents and businesses enjoy easy access to higher education and workforce training opportunities. J.H. Daniel Campus of Southside Community College is located on Rt. 40 just outside of town, Hampden Sydney College is only about 20 minutes away, and Longwood University is less than a half hour away.
