Pahrump's Relationship To Las Vegas, Nevada

Pahrump is located 63 miles west of Las Vegas, NV. The two communities share similar histories and characteristics: Pahrump and Las Vegas both have arid desert climates - typical of the Mojave Desert in which both communities lie - with low annual precipitation, an abundance of sunshine year-round, and ties to the Paiute Indians. However, it was the Pahrump Valley that became the prime agricultural producing community in Southern Nevada.
