Maine Coastal Cottage in Cutler
2708 Cutler Road : Cutler, ME 04626
Washington County, Maine
Land Description
This cozy one bedroom cottage overlooks pristine Cutler Harbor on the Bold Coast of Maine. The large windows in the eat-in kitchen and living room frame the picturesque harbor. Enjoy your morning coffee at the table and watch the fishermen as they ready for a day on the water and later in the afternoon as they return with their catch.
In the winter, enjoy the antics of the Bufflehead as he bobs along the water, diving for food and only to pop back up and continue bobbing along. Winter also brings with it its own change in the scenery adding sea smoke swirling around the fishing boats creating an almost mystical picture of the fishing fleet.
Cutler is located along the bold coast of Maine about 15 Miles from the county seat of Machias. The small town offers over 12,000 acres of preserved lands beginning at the dramatic 150' cliffs above the mighty Atlantic, across the coastal bogs and reaching inland to the blueberry lands. There are a number of trails to hike along and thru this pristine ocean front preserve. Low impact camping is allowed and there are a few camp sites to enjoy the overnight experience.
The main access route to Cutler is Rt. 191 S off Route 1 in East Machias. This road is well maintained and winds along the shore, thru the woods and back, climbing hills and a small mountain. As you start down this mountain Cutler Harbor opens up before you. What a beautiful sight. The Harbor is at the mouth of Little River and opens to the bold ocean and the beginning of the Bay of Fundy.
The harbor is protected by the hills on either side of it buffering the winds and giving the fishing fleet safe harbor for mooring their boats. Summer brings yachts and other pleasure boats cruising the shoreline and stopping in the town to pick up a few lobsters or enjoy the surrounding trails. So much to see and do in this beautiful coastal community.
