TIN CAN - Rare Eco-Friendly Steel Home
Industrial, warm, funky, fun and homey all describe this unique property affectionately known as the “Tin Can”. Designed and built in 2015, this is the first time on the market. The Tin Can is a totally self-supporting unique, open-concept home with no interior columns to block the open flow of the 1600 square feet. As soon as you walk in, you see the living and dining rooms and the kitchen. With almost 17-foot ceilings, your eyes are drawn to a large open loft above. There are 2 bedrooms and 2 baths on the main level too.
The design is modern, but the natural materials used inside create an incredibly warm and inviting feeling. Very low maintenance concrete floors complement the industrial look, while multi-colored stained wood panels and birch trim form the interior color palate. Three skylights and many windows and sliding door provide lots of natural light. Designed with a future wood stove in mind, a wall insert is already in place.
The galley-style kitchen has a clean, commercial feel about it with industrial lighting, steel shelving and butcher block and stainless-steel countertops. A unique, fully-functional range hood was crafted from a metal pail. A stained glass insert over the fridge provides natural light to the master bathroom.
The long-range mountain views are spectacular -- facing due east with scenes of the Clinch River gap. The sunrise is breathtaking, especially in winter.
The unique arch design of the Tin Can creates enormous strength -- strong enough to withstand even the highest wind and snow loads. There is never a need for a new roof and never a need to paint. Inherently eco-friendly the structure is made from 80 percent recycled materials. The outside is coated with a product that encourages energy efficiency due to its high heat reflectively. Windows and doors are insulated double-pane, low-e glass.
The property has full RV hookups, and a flat, gravel parking area large enough for a 30 ft. or so trailer or RV.
Lots of solitude, nature, and beauty here surrounding this 2-acre parcel. The paved road turns into a gravel as soon as it arrives at the property. Approximately one car passes every 30 minutes.
Located just 10 minutes from downtown Tazewell, 45 minutes from Knoxville, and 20 minutes from the Cumberland Gap National Park and Lincoln Memorial University. Just 5 minutes down the hill is Lake Norris, one of Tennessee's largest freshwater lakes, with hundreds of miles of shoreline. A private plane airport is 7 minutes away, and golf is less than 10 minutes.
Highway 25E North to left on Y Road. Right on Lone Mountain Rd. Go approx 6 miles and turn right on Vannoy Hollow. 1.7 miles on right.
