Horseshoe Pond Forest is located in the sparsely settled northwest corner of Maine. The property offers rolling, moderate terrain that allows easy access by 4-wheel drive vehicle, ATV or foot to nearly every corner of the tract. Along the northern boundary, there are long-distance views of Flagstaff Lake and the Bigelow Range to the south. Horseshoe Pond sits in the southwest corner of the forest. The pond is likely home to native brook trout, especially given that its southern outlet connects to Spencer Stream via a small tributary laced by a network of small ponds.
Defining the southern boundary of the property are 1.7 miles of frontage along Spencer Stream - a pristine, cold water stream well known for its seasonal wild brook trout. A major tributary to Flagstaff Lake, Spencer Stream offers anglers a classic Maine fishing experience as they wade the pools and riffles flowing past a rocky, spruce-lined shore.
The forest is comprised of a mix of softwood and hardwood species - balsam fir, red spruce, cedar, and northern hardwoods. This creates favorable habitat for a number of game species.
