Immersed in the great outdoors at an early age, Desta developed a deep passion for the sporting lifestyle. Some of Desta’s earliest memories are of times spent in the blind with her father and grandfather, who affectionately nicknamed her their “golden retriever” when she was too young to shoot. Being a lifelong North Florida resident, Desta is happiest when in the field, whether it be scanning the skies for ducks, following bird dogs in pursuit of the beloved bob-white, casting in-shore, dropping deep lines in the Gulf or wrangling behemoth alligators. Desta is a seasoned communications professional with years of relevant experience in integrated marketing, event management and media relations. Effectively delivering results for an array of hospitality and consumer brands, Desta has a history of contributing to the success of the businesses she markets. She has landed placements for her clients in top-tier lifestyle publications including Garden & Gun, Southern Living, Marlin Magazine and Gray’s Sporting Journal to name just a few. As the Marketing Manager for Jon Kohler & Associates, Desta spearheads the marketing efforts for the company and is responsible for PR strategy, digital marketing, property photo and video shoots, content, copy editing, social media, campaign development and creative vision. Desta resides in Tallahassee along with her husband, Travis, and their loyal hunting companion, Cope (an eight-year-old yellow lab and Hunt Retriever Champion).
