He is retired from the US Air National Guard and holds a bachelor of science degree in Biology. He is also retired from the Alabama Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries. He is an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoys collecting and finding Indian artifacts. His knowledge in Indian artifacts allowed him to co-author the "Best of the Best" Indian artifact book. He is married to Dara and has 4 children and 9 grandchildren.
