PRAIRIE CENTER PIVOTS – Prairie Center, Goshen County, Wyoming: The north and south units of the productive Prairie Center Pivots are located near Prairie Center, a small ranching and farming community, which is situated approximately 30 miles northwest of Torrington, Wyoming, and approximately nine miles east of Jay Em, Wyoming. The Prairie Center Pivots consist of approximately 853 deeded acres of which 684 acres are irrigated under five low-pressure center pivots which are planted into either alfalfa or a grass/alfalfa mix. The 2008 production rate for the Prairie Center Pivots was 5.65 tons per acre while 2007 was 5 to 5.5 ton per acre. Both units of the Prairie Center Pivots have their own set of improvements, which are well-maintained and include several outbuildings.
